Evening Meeting - Experts, Lawyers & Arbitrators – Panel Discussion on Hot Topics

A joint event being held with the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators kindly hosted by Eversheds LLP.

The format of the evening will be a panel discussion and open forum followed by drinks and networking.

Bruce Barze, a partner at the US law firm Balch & Bingham LLP, will be talking to Academy members and their guests about the rules and procedures governing expert testimony in America. In 1975, the Federal Rules of Evidence were adopted for litigation in American federal courts.

Experts' Liabilities

Following the loss of experts immunity in Jones v Kaney the question of liability is still a topic of hot debate.

Mr Justice Dingemans QC spoke to members about the view from the bench.

Master O’Hare, a Costs Judge of some 18 years standing, spoke to members about this thorny subject and how experts can minimise their risk in this arena.

Mr Justice Ramsey, the judge in charge of the implementation of the Jackson Reforms spoke to Academy members and their guests about the Impact of the Jackson Reforms on Expert Evidence.
